Steps for washing your coat and bedding:
1. Check the labels to make sure your down garments are machine washable. For a down jacket, close all zippers and empty the pockets.
2. Select a normal wash and spin cycle.
3. Submerge the garments when the machine is half full and balance the load by adding a few towels of the same color. Stop the machine occasionally to expel air from the clothes. For a front-loading washing machine, there's no need to soak the clothes; simply use a delicate cycle and two rinses to completely remove the soap.
4. Tumble dry on a low heat setting. (Always check the care label for drying instructions before starting to ensure your garments are machine dryable and at what temperature.)
